Roxy and Barley

Three weeks ago my family took care of a dog. The dog was a chocolate Labrador. Her name was Barley. My dog Roxy was playing for hours with Barley. Roxy took a couple of naps. The dogs were waking up around six. Saturday was the most tiring day.  My mom walked the dogs while I was playing basketball. After thirty minutes I played fetch. Roxy was so tired, so she took a nap. Barley was not tired yet. I played fetch again. The Sunday Barley left was when I had a game. My mom told me we just missed her by five minutes.

Sun Sugar Tomatoes

A couple weeks ago my dad got me a tomato plant. We planted it. After a few weeks, they turned yellow. The tomato has to be orange to be eaten. These tomatoes are called sun sugar. Some other tomatoes are red. When they turned orange, my sister tasted them. I used her because she loves tomatoes. "It was pretty good, she said. Suddenly I gulped it it. Same as my mom. My mom shared the tomato with me. Here are some of our tomatoes.

Before we even ate it we just slid in this picture.

Have you tasted a sun sugar tomato?

The Getty Center

This summer I went to the Getty Center with my grandparents. We decided to go because every time we pass the museum they want to go, so this summer we went. When we got there, we first got on the tour. We were learning so many things about the  paintings and who created it. While walking and looking I spotted the kings bed. It looked like to me that the blanket was silk. We also saw a wood sculpture that looked like a statue. It had these meanings on it's foot. I thought to myself and how long would it take.  The tour guide did not say, but it probably took a long time. The last thing we did in the tour was  the garden of eve. I learned more information about Adam and Eve. We ate lunch, and while eating we were thinking of what should we do next. We chose the garden tour. On the tour we past many trees. She told us that all the trees would look like one. Next, we walked down to the garden. I walked to the garden and saw many flowers, vines, and even a maze in the water. It is very beautiful

Here is a photo with the maze and the Getty Center

Have you been to the Getty Center or a museum? If so what did you learn?

Unrecognized Plant Solved

On one of my posts I was talking about the bonita peach. Since my grandparents were here I knew that they had gardening experience . One day my grandma saw a tree in my garden and saw a ripe fruit. I was in the pool when it happened, so I did not get to see it. She tried it and she recognized the flavor. My grandma always tastes my grandpas fruits a lot, so I knew my grandma's connections with the fruit was probably going to be correct. She was thinking for a while, and suddenly she thought of the word apricot. An apricot is orange and to me tastes like a plum. So that means it is a apricot tree

Have you tried a apricot before?

At the Beach

My family is here from Denmark this summer, so we went to the beach. In Denmark, it is very cold sometimes, even in the summer. They have earthquakes and snow storms. They get snow and a lot of rain.

Even though the water was cold, we still went in. Since it was very hot outside, it felt refreshing. I went under a few times, but I got right back up and did not fall. One time I was holding my dad's hand and my uncle's hand. I went under the wave with them , and my uncle landed on my knee. Sadly, my uncle hurt his toe. It was turning blue. After we were done,  we went to the rock at Point of Doom to see it. We weren't allowed to swim because of the big rocks.

Unrecognized Plant

While my mom was putting wood chips through the yard she noticed an ordinary fruit. At our neighbor's house they had the exact same thing. It had a tag that said a fruit name. It said Bonita Peach. I felt theirs then felt mine. They felt exactly the same. But then I looked at the leaves, and I realized that the leaves were not the same. But it still felt like a peach. The fruit was also smaller and a different color. One fruit fell down from the tree. Our other neighbors have the exact same tree. I only know that because it has the same leaves, fruit, size, color, and felt the same. My mom thought it came from the neighbor's yard. Now it has many fruits on it.

Do you know type of peach it is?

My Right Angles and Last Day of School

Yesterday was the last day of school. Mrs. Yollis took a picture of my shirt because it had right angles. I wore the shirt because it was something I learned in third grade. I realized that the angles looked like the letter L. The "L"s could stand for the last day. This school year I learned many things. I mastered my multiplication facts and the division facts. The day before the last day we had our party. There was pizza, veggies, fruit, and cookies. Bennett's mom started the game jeopardy, so we could play. Even though team four won, we still had fun. One of the questions was: What landmark has faces carved on it?  We correctly said Mt. Rushmore.

Then Parsa finished Alpha Smarting on the last day with twenty minutes left! Since he was typing so fast, I felt like he was flash. He finished at least five sections.

After everything we had to say goodbye. It was very sad.

We had a group hug. I had to say goodbye to my friends even though I will see Collin and maybe Ryan because of basketball.

Wood Working Projects

After school on Wednesdays, I was in an enrichment program. It is called Wood Working. We learned how to cut, glue, and sand. My first project was a covered wagon. My second project was the wishing well.  When I was sawing, I had my goggles on. We wore them, so we would not get saw dust in our eyes. After cutting we went to the sanding table. I started with the eighty grade sandpaper and ended with the two twenty sandpaper. Sometimes I even used the three eighty grade sandpaper. The point of sanding is to get it smooth, so we would not get splinters. At the glueing table, we glued the parts we had sanded and cut. We did one part at a time. It took us ten weeks to finish. If we finished our part of the project early, we could work on any other project that we wanted. I made a horse to go with the wagon. One time with my friend we made bongos. For our teacher we made a blogging boat because she has a blog. It is called Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog.

New Plant in The Garden

While I was at Home Depot walking through to the Malibu lights section,  I remembered my garden. I saw a blueberry bush, and then we saw that it needs a lot of sun. And here we have a lot of sun. So then we decided to get it. Even though there was not blueberries on it yet we still bought it. There was a few more with blueberries on it, but they were too big. When I got home we did the Malibu lights and planted the blueberry bush. We put it right by the pool. In this photo there is a picture of it right when we got it.

Memory Wood

Two summers ago I went to the Grand Canyon in Arizona with my grandparents. The Grand Canyon is a landmark. One day at the gift shop I spotted a pocket knife, but sadly it was a small one, so I did not get it. A few days later there was a big one that had my name on it. The wood was smooth and had a good grip. While walking back, my grandpa spotted this piece of wood. It was big, so we decided to use my pocket knife and carve our names in it. Happily, my dad carved them, so I did not get cut by the pocket knife. For my my sister's name and mine my dad carved the Colorado River because it looked like a S. Now this piece of wood stands in my living room. And when I look back at that piece of wood it reminds me of the Grand Canyon.

Thomas Edison

Over the weekends my dad and I worked on my diorama for school. Since Thomas Edison was an inventor I decided to make a battery powered light bulb. My dad had all the materials to do it. Some of them were wires, soldering gun, bread ties, and a shoe box. First, my dad soldered the wires on the light bulb, so I didn't get hurt. Then the other side of the wires were connected to a switch. Finally, I put the wires on the battery.

In this photo we are putting the light bulb on the the top of the shoe box. We used the bread ties to tie the light bulb on the top. It was difficult to tie it.

Roxy's snack

This is my dog Roxy. She is a 9 year old golden retriever. She has many favorite treats like beggin strips, cheese, carrots, cucumbers, but her favorite is peanut butter. In this picture she is licking the jar of peanut butter. It was so much fun to feel the vibration of her licks, it tickled my hand. Do you have a pet who likes peanut butter?

Mother Sons Sports Day

At my school every year they have this celebration. The moms and the sons team up with other friends and play sports. Some of the sports were flag football, basketball, volleyball, and doctor dodge ball. They also take photos, so we can remember what happened. My favorite was doctor dodge ball. In the game you play dodge ball, but if you get down, the doctor can heal you. Usually the doctors stay in the back, so they don't get hit. If the doctor gets hit, then everyone on his team that gets hit would be out until the game is over. If someone gets out, a friend of yours can protect the doctor when he tries to heal them.

This is a photo of my mom and me. In it we are next to Kobe Bryant. We weren't really next to Kobe Bryant. The green screen made us be next to Kobe Bryant. A green screen is a green cloth used to pick your own backgrounds

After all the sports are over we have lunch. There is pizza, salad, strawberries, and cookies. For dessert there is ice cream, popsicles, and many more.

What is your favorite sport? Have you ever taken a picture in front of a green screen?

Welcome to Sean's Super Stories

Hi, my name is Sean. I enjoy blogging and I am so thrilled to have my own blog. I am looking forward to sharing my stories with you.

A few things about myself:

I love basketball! I have been to Clippers and Lakers games. They are so much fun and I have had the opportunity to play on the Staples Center court.  Another sport I enjoy is baseball. My positions are first base and short stop. On the weekends I sometimes play golf with my dad.

In addition to sports, I like to read books and be in the garden.

I am excited to talk about my experiences with all of you!
