Thomas Edison

Over the weekends my dad and I worked on my diorama for school. Since Thomas Edison was an inventor I decided to make a battery powered light bulb. My dad had all the materials to do it. Some of them were wires, soldering gun, bread ties, and a shoe box. First, my dad soldered the wires on the light bulb, so I didn't get hurt. Then the other side of the wires were connected to a switch. Finally, I put the wires on the battery.

In this photo we are putting the light bulb on the the top of the shoe box. We used the bread ties to tie the light bulb on the top. It was difficult to tie it.

Have you ever made a battery powered light bulb? If so for what?

  1. Dear Sean,

What a terrific time you had with your dad! It looks likes you put forth a lot of effort, and from the diorama you brought in, it was worth it! The switch on the side that turns on the light is fabulous!

I enjoy building things. When I was in school, I really enjoyed making dioramas and models. I liked making things look 3-dimensional. It looks like you are like that too!

What are three special details you added to your diorama?

I was thinking; we should take a photo of the final project and add it to this post.

    Great work, Sean!

    1. @ Mrs. Yollis,

Three details were the lightbulb, lab table, and pictures to see what Thomas Edison looked like. For the lab table I found this piece of wood from an old game. I used it because all the parts were lost. On the table there are sticker bottles and a microscope.

What was your favorite diorama you made?

      Your blogging student,
      Sean

  2. Hi Sean,

I like how you were inspired by Thomas Edison's story to create this project. It sounds like you are a good problem-solver using every day materials in unusual ways.

I am glad that all of your hard work paid off. What a great project.

  4. Sean,

What a fantastic project! Isn't it amazing what you can build with your very own hands? I am always amazed by people like you and your dad who can build electrical projects. Great job!

  5. @ Joe Wood,

It is really amazing what you can do with your hands especially in electricity. We found all these lightbulbs, but we tried choose a small lightbulb. We chose the most useless lightbulb so people did not get hurt. What is your favorite electrical project?

    Sincerely,
    Sean
